Project Description

Schetter Electric furnished and installed electrical services for the UC Davis Tower II. This 13 story, 107 bed medical tower facility was designed and constructed to fulfill the needs of the expanding University of California Davis Medical Center. In construction of the new Tower, the existing hospitals utilities were replaced during different phases while maintaining a live operating hospital. This included services feeding surgery and the emergency center. The service for this project (fed via their Central Power Plant) consisted of a 15kv lineup distributed to the existing and new Tower with three double ended 5000A Unit Substations and two 2500A Unit Substations along with a third redundant 15kv temporary utility connection to local utility power. This project was completed by a Helistop atop the full 13-story structure, which serves the areas only Level 1 Trauma Center.
The project also included x-ray rooms, medical gas systems, audiovisual systems, security access and monitoring systems, communication voice and data cabling, life safety system, nurse call system, and energy management controls. Schetter Electric, Inc. installed all electrical systems.
