Project Description

Schetter Electric designed, furnished and installed the electrical in the Ashland Youth Center for the County of Alameda. The new Ashland Youth Center houses a rich array of youth centered services. The facility is a 31,500 Sq.ft sustainably designed two-story structure, located within the boundaries of the newly built Holland Park neighborhood open space.
The building has fully equipped facilities for youth focused recreational, educational, health, and career services, all interconnected within a continuous, open, and integrating community center space. Program functional areas include a library, public café, media production space, dance and fitness rooms, meeting and class rooms, computer lab, game and visual arts rooms, childcare center, and a wellness center complete with health, dental and behavioral services. In addition, there is a career center, administrative and building support offices, and many social gathering spaces such as a living room, balcony bleachers and an activity courtyard. The building design emphasizes transparency, openness and flexibility. The facility is lighted by current technology LED lighting fixtures and includes a 30 KW Photovoltaic System on the roof providing 20% of the power utilized each day.
