Project Description
Schetter Electric provided and installed the electrical installation for the CalPERS Emergency Operations Center. The project was a renovation of a 44,000 SQ FT building into a redundant standalone emergency operations center to support over 400 employee workstations with emergency power and lighting. SEI worked closely with Mechanical systems to ensure a smooth and efficient project for CalPERS. CalPERS is the nation’s largest public pension fund with assets totaling $200 billion as of June 30, 2010, CalPERS investments span domestic and international markets.
The infrastructure to support the operations derived from a 1,000kw generator, UPS system, Battery Room with in excess of 2 hours of battery capacity for the UPS, Communications Room and Data Center supporting dual corded equipment. At first glance this project appears to be the heart of CalPERS business. In reality, this is only one part as this facility is actually a backup site. The redundant nature of this type of work didn’t reduce the complexity but rather increased it. Timing and critical connections into existing systems provide to be a challenge SEI was well suited to accomplish on time and on budget.
